Music Literacy/Listening 101
This collection of music is the bare-bones of any good music education home
library in America. ZHS Music Literacy/Listening 101, is continuously evolving
and will include more global music history and classical music in the future.
Please give every child a chance to grow-up with a rich diversity of music
listening that contains both rhythm and melody. While hip-hop is a
legitimate art form, a dominant diet of only one rhythm continuously,
drastically limits development of the range of musicality and the capacity to
hear musical subtleness in children. Big business in commercial music is pushing
the limited number of artists your children usually hear about. They deserve
more than that. Offer them a feast of the world's excellent diverse talent and
traditions. Let them refine their listening skills with the best artists. This
small collection is a rich start for home listening, which is the first and
perhaps the most important music education most children ever have.
